Music

So now that Mark has opened up the wonders of the vortex to you… part of you probably wants to get lost in the creative instrument toy abyss… go to it!

Bill was kind enough to put together a little paragraph of links for you… and here it is after the jump… (straight from Bill) (more…)

The last piece on Todd Reynolds’ recital, “Lasso and Corral” was by Dan Trueman, who also spent some time with fellowDan Trueman composers during seminar. Many people asked questions about the composition, its click-track, and origin of thought.

From the composer:

“In the study of musical scales and meters, the notion of well-formedness usually manifests itself as a set of specific constraints. For instance, one common constraint is maximal evenness; in the case of a well-formed diatonic scale, the seven notes will be distributed as evenly as possible across the twelve half-steps that divide the octave. Similarly, the beats that define a meter will be spread out as evenly as possible across the smallest pulse that evenly divides the measure…”

Hey y’all.  Created a Utility page for mp3s of works being performed and various ancillary materials, including pdfs of scores.

Ensemble M is the first Ensemble’s area to be populated.

In the future, notification will occur on the home page, and you’ll find the materials on the Utility Page, a button for which can be also found at the top of the landing page.

Hi all! Well, count it, nearly two weeks later and i’m finally getting this all wrapped up. Do hope you enjoy these mp3’s of the Improv group concert. Now, mind you, this is not the best recording job. it’s simply straight into my little new M-Audio Microtrack, and although this is appearing to be a great unit, getting the record level units together, especially in that very reverberant room, proved to be a little challenge. Thanks to Baljinder for his microphone and help. You’ll find the program listing on the Improv 404 page, with every title a link to mp3.

Next, comin’ at you, all of those Indian music resources we promised, courtesy of Baljinder and Robert Morris, composition prof at Eastman and Indian music expert.

Do stay in touch! this Blog is going to grow and expand. Yeah, right, you say… Watch!

well, folks, they’re already here, not quite complete, but i got three up… go to the improv 404 page
